New SR 60 Ramp Opens in Tampa as Part of Major Widening Project

Cone & Graham Inc. is pleased to announce the opening of a new flyover ramp on westbound State Road 60 (Memorial Highway) in Tampa—an important milestone in the Florida Department of Transportation’s $47 million widening project.

As reported by Tampa Bay Business Journal, the new ramp (Exit 2B) provides direct access from SR 60 to Independence Parkway and officially opened to traffic on Sunday morning. Drivers can now enter the ramp from a new left-side access point on Memorial Highway, easing congestion in one of Tampa’s busiest travel corridors.

Improving Access and Capacity Near Tampa International Airport

This ramp opening marks a key step in a larger effort to expand a 1.8-mile stretch of SR 60, adding an additional westbound lane between the George J. Bean Parkway ramp and the Courtney Campbell Causeway. The project area—just outside Tampa International Airport—serves thousands of daily commuters, and the improvements are expected to significantly reduce delays and increase traffic flow.

Construction, which began in August 2022, is scheduled for full completion in spring 2026. Cone & Graham Inc. is proud to lead the construction efforts and contribute to the broader regional upgrades taking shape.

Supporting the Westshore Interchange Vision

This project complements other major FDOT investments in the area, including the $1 billion Westshore Interchange project and the newly completed Howard Frankland Bridge. As Tampa continues to grow, these infrastructure upgrades will play a critical role in improving mobility and safety for residents and visitors alike.

Cone & Graham Inc. is committed to delivering quality infrastructure that keeps Florida moving.
